Bad Habits Hot Sauce Co* began as an idea sparked over a few beers between husband Alex and wife Sam in 2020. What started as a casual conversation after some homemade hot sauce for fun, evolved into a fiery passion project that combines the best of both worlds: Sam’s childhood fascination with hot sauce and Alex’s competitive spirit in pepper challenges.

Meet Alex – our esteemed Co-Founder and the undeniable Sauce Boss. To call him passionate about hot sauce would be an understatement; for him, it’s almost akin to first love.
Legend has it, Alex’s love affair with hot sauce began even before he could properly pronounce “Scoville.” While most children were playing with toys, Alex was setting up fiery challenges with his brothers and father, always pushing the boundaries of their taste buds. And if we’re speaking favorites, he’s always had a penchant for the rich allure of sweet and smoky sauces.
But like all great love stories, there’s always a pivotal chapter. Enter Sam. Their shared passion for all things spicy was evident from the start.
Alex firmly believes that everything is a vehicle for hot sauce. And if you’re wondering about the most unconventional pairing he’s tried? Think cream cheese, bacon marmalade, hot sauce, all piled onto a cracker. Eccentric, but deliciously so.

In 1994, a mischievous uncle introduced a two-year-old Sam to her first taste of hot sauce, setting the stage for an unexpected life-long love affair (and giving her mom a mini heart attack in the process). By the time she was old enough to go on dates, this very obsession led to spoonfuls of hot sauce at Bertucci’s, much to the amusement of her date, Alex. It was in this moment of unabashed passion for fiery condiments that the idea for “Bad Habits” was unknowingly seeded.
Driven by a love for experimentation, Sam’s adventurous palate is forever on the hunt for unique pairings and unexpected flavors. The tantalizing Blueberry Nail Biter on plain cheesecake is a must-try from her saucy adventures. At the heart of it all, Bad Habits marries her deepest passions: the art of cooking, the thrill of creativity, the love for hot sauce, and the warmth of family. A co-founder, yes, but also the beating heart of the sauce that brings us all together.

However, give her a salsa with just a hint of zing, and she’s all in! As for her favorite pepper? It’s the sweet allure of the red bell pepper that captures her heart.
Sue isn’t just a supervisor; she’s the spark that sets the creative fires alight. With an imagination as vast as the horizon, she continually inspires fresh and innovative ideas in those around her. But don’t be mistaken; her talents aren’t confined to the kitchen alone. As the evening winds down and music fills the air, Charli Sue takes the floor, leading with grace, rhythm, and unparalleled enthusiasm. Her moves? As smooth as the sauces she inspires.
